The opportunity

Made for everyday businesses, not just big industry

The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) has driven Australia’s rooftop solar for over a decade, and it already covers business systems up to 100kW. That’s the range most workshops, farms, shopfronts and clubs land in, typically 30kW to 100kW, and those systems qualify for the rebate right now. From 1 October 2026 the cap lifts to 1MW, so bigger warehouses and factories can claim it too.

Upfront, not a rebate cheque

The saving comes through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), applied as a discount at the point of purchase, so your capital outlay drops from day one.

Around 20% off the system

Government estimates put the cut at roughly 20% of upfront cost for eligible systems, which is real money on a commercial-scale install.

Faster payback

Lower upfront cost plus rising commercial power prices means shorter payback and stronger long-term returns on your roof space.

Indicative figures based on Federal Government estimates. Most of the businesses we work with land between 30kW and 100kW, so here’s what that range looks like. Your exact saving depends on system size, install date and STC pricing, and that’s what your free assessment nails down.

Commercial solar rebate FAQs

What exactly is changing on 1 October 2026?
The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) is expanding its eligible system size from 100kW up to 1MW. Systems up to 100kW already qualify today, which covers most workshops, farms, shopfronts and clubs, so at that size there is nothing to wait for.
How much could my business save?
Government estimates suggest around 20% off the upfront cost of an eligible system, roughly $8,000 on a 30kW system and about $28,000 on a 100kW system, which is the range most local businesses land in. Your actual saving depends on final system size, install timing and STC pricing, which we confirm at your assessment.
Who is eligible?
Eligibility is based on system capacity rather than the size of your business. If you have suitable roof or ground space and daytime energy use, it’s worth getting assessed. Mechanics, farms, shopfronts, bowls clubs, soccer and football clubs, offices and warehouses are all strong candidates.
Should I wait until October to start?
No. If your site suits a system up to 100kW, like most workshops, farms, shopfronts and clubs, the rebate applies right now, so the sooner it’s on the roof the sooner it starts paying for itself. For bigger sites chasing the expanded cap, we get your design and approvals sorted now and time the install to land the new rebate.
Can I finance the system?
Yes. We offer finance options through Humm and Plenti, so you can spread the cost while the energy savings start working for you from day one.
