You don’t need a factory roof to claim it. The federal rebate already covers business systems up to 100kW, the sweet spot for mechanics, farms, shopfronts and local clubs, cutting around 20% off your upfront cost. From 1 October 2026 it expands to systems up to 1MW. Charged Energy designs and installs it end to end.

The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) has driven Australia’s rooftop solar for over a decade, and it already covers business systems up to 100kW. That’s the range most workshops, farms, shopfronts and clubs land in, typically 30kW to 100kW, and those systems qualify for the rebate right now. From 1 October 2026 the cap lifts to 1MW, so bigger warehouses and factories can claim it too.
The saving comes through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), applied as a discount at the point of purchase, so your capital outlay drops from day one.
Government estimates put the cut at roughly 20% of upfront cost for eligible systems, which is real money on a commercial-scale install.
Lower upfront cost plus rising commercial power prices means shorter payback and stronger long-term returns on your roof space.
Indicative figures based on Federal Government estimates. Most of the businesses we work with land between 30kW and 100kW, so here’s what that range looks like. Your exact saving depends on system size, install date and STC pricing, and that’s what your free assessment nails down.
